Economics Role Play Synthesis

OH YEAH! THIS IS IT! :)

September 5, 2010, Monday – The day was not the ordinary school day for us. It was our final moment – our judgement day. It was the day for us to show our final output through a creative role playing as our mid-term practical exam in our economics subject. We all felt the nervousness which is natural to a performer especially when it was the first time.
Our presentation was in accordance with the children’s show entitled DORA: the Explorer. We used the concept as the medium of our presentation. We just put remarkable change to it to make it somehow original. We named our show as Ang Seksing Explorer, DORAi: the SeXplorer.

Now, let us go into where all these have started.

The group planned and prepared all the things needed in three big days. One was inside the class room. Another was at Castillo’s residence. Last and final meeting was held in the gazebo grounds and inside the economics class room for the final rehearsal.

Our teacher, Mr. Daigdigan, gladly told us that we’ll have our practical exam for our economics subject as we have been ranted and requested. Praise to God for the advance Christmas gift – a little bit easy way for us to get a high grade for our  economics subject.  Since it would be by group, there is a big chance that
we can earn a very good grade because we will work by team and share all possible things we can contribute.

We gathered together every time there is a chance to meet. When we meet we always see to it that after the meeting there is something that we have done. On our first meeting that was held inside the classroom, we just discussed the things we need and assigned to each one a particular thing or task. After, we assigned the roles of each individual for the final show. Then, we planned to have the next meeting at the residence of John  Ronan Castillo at the Belisario Residences in Damosa.
The group went to Castillo’s house. There, we made our backdrop and finalized the flow of our presentation. After that, we edited our script and practiced on how we are going to deliver it.

The final practice was held in school in order for the group to have the blocking inside the classroom where the group will perform. It was quite a good strategy for us because we were able to plot ourselves to where we must place ourselves during the final presentation.

As you can see, we chose the topic “Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.” We started our presentation with a dancing presentation by Peter Canete, Ava Hornido and Clint Lademora. The audience went shouting and cheering as they saw a good start of the presentation.

Classroom
To officially open the DORAi show, the group started it as Dora (the original one) starts the program with Dora and Boots dancing together with the Dora theme song. Dora and Boots talked.....and welcome everyone to another exploration time. They used the backpack to find the thing they needed to travel, the map. Inside the bag together with the map where the pencil, paper, book and the picture of James Bond (Sir Daigdigan). With the help of the audience, Dora and Boots were able to recognize and got the map. The magical map presented the way to the economics where Dora and Boots should go.

The first stop would be in the Microeconomics mountain. The scene there was a buyer and seller of the Palay (Rice). The buyer buys the rice of the seller in exchange of money. Dora then asked why the mountain was called microeconomics. The buyer explains. After, Dora was able to understand the picture of microeconomics through what she saw and through the explanation of the buyer. They presented to Dora how buyers and sellers use the demand and supply principles.

After passing the Microeconomics mountain, Dora and Boots consulted again the map in order for them to know where to go next. Again, with the help of the audience, Dora and Boots identified that they must go to the Macroeconomics building. They then proceed on their way to the Macroeconomics building.

When they were able to reach  the second place,  Dora and Boots saw the building full with bananas. The company owner was the one who welcome them and discussed with them the things about the building and the business. There was a man who brought with him a bunch of banana and asked the owner whether he is fired or not because the company has outlaid workers because of the depressed economy. In  the same place, Dora saw the newspaper with a news on the little growth in the economy. Thus, Dora identified that some of the things that could be classified under the macroeconomics are unemployment, inflation and economic growth.

After learning a lot of things in the Macroeconomics building, Dora and Boots went to their final destination which is the economics room where Dora can study things about the economy. Of course, the help of the map and the audience made Dora’s and Boots’s travel easy.
There was Swipper: the tigger. But, Dora and Boots were able to stop Swipper in making trouble.
The trip continued until Dora and Boots were able to land their feet in the economics room. While waiting for their professor, Dora and Boots shared what they have learned while they were on the way to the economics room.

Dora: Macroeconomists study aggregated indicators such as GDP, unemployment rates, and price indices to understand how the whole economy functions. Macroeconomists develop models that explain the relationship between such factors as national income, output, consumption, unemployment, inflation, savings, investment, international trade and international finance. In contrast, microeconomics is primarily focused on the actions of individual agents, such as firms and consumers, and how their behavior determines prices and quantities in specific markets.
Boots:  And, microeconomics applies to markets where goods or services are being bought and sold. Microeconomics examines how these decisions and behaviours affect the supply and demand for goods and services, which determines prices, and how prices, in turn, determine the quantity supplied and quantity demanded of goods and services.

The show ended with a lot of learnings and entertainment. The presentation started well and ended well. You can really see that the group members are thirsty of very good grades in the economics subject that is why they really gave their best for the presentation. They allowed their presentation to speak for all their efforts.
